Furniture Repair
Old furniture can become like a good friend and I have had the opportunity now that the Shop is up and running to fix some of my friends treasured pieces. I do not have a spray booth or the artistic experience to refinish with the exact same finish as the original but the finishing I have done seems to have turned out quite well. I am happy to look at your piece and see if new life can be done.

Rocking Chair Restoration
This project came to the shop in pieces as you can see. The chair is approximately 100 years old and was one of the first sitting spots for my wife's father. Originally it came completely painted white so wood identification was not possible. As this chair was built in Eastern Canada I assumed that an Eastern Maple would be a good guess so I purchased material at Lee Valley in Victoria to turn new legs. Old repairs that were done were done with nails. Not the first choice for furniture repair. After much time and utilizing several different tools, I managed to remove the nails with minimal damage to the chair. Now that all the paint was removed, Walnut was the wood the chair was constructed of. The legs were already completed so the search was on for a stain that would do the job. I found just the right product and am pleased with the final result. The time involved to complete this rebuild was well worth the time after Jane and my mother-in-law, Mary Jane saw the final piece. For years this chair sat in pieces and now it has a new start again for our grandchildren. As my grand-daughter Riley says "Goodjob!"
Furniture Repair - Hutch
The large hutch was a first piece of furniture built by my brother-in-law for his mother. Needless to say that hutch has moved from each place that she has lived. The latest home she is living in required that it be cut in half in order to get it in her apartment. No problem. You can hardly see the joint when assembled. My mother-in-law has given me a few brownie points for this one. Glad to do it.
Furniture Repair - Harrison Table
Harrison folding table was brought to the shop for repair. This table had a date on 1938 written on the old broken piece I replaced. Hinges were realigned, new central base, slides and wedges were fabricated to get her back on the front room floor.
